Good news, an English couple were looking on your web site for some thing, not a Dog, and the wife saw Basil, she phoned me up & came this morning with her husband, Basil was outside free with other dogs, they liked him straight away & didn't bother to go inside to look at any others. I told her he came in as a very young pup & Fran took him to foster him we knew his chance of surviving at the kennels were very slim. Well they are coming to take him home tomorrow. I phoned Fran she is so happy & thanks to you both for putting him on the Always Manana web site, it as been a while since he went on there, it just took some one to see him & really want him. April 2013: Well I have taken a few photos from the kennels if you could show them for a.r.c.a., we had 6 pups & 4 adult dogs in 2 days, we really need to get more adoptions hopefully we may have some success.

This is Basil, he was found by the police, they thought it was just a bag of rubbish until they heard him whimpering, he was only 4 weeks old, we knew he would need special care, my friends Fran & Graham took him home & thanks to their dedication to fostering, he survived.

Basil is now 10 months old, he has some Labrador in him & a very gentle loving dog. After such a sad start to his life, Fran would love to see him adopted & in a loving home which he really deserves. If you are able to give Basil a second chance please call or text me. 678975816.

This cute little girl is called Abi, she is 5 months old, her brothers & sisters have settled in really well but sadly she is finding it far too over whelming, she is very happy when we separate her to give her a little attention.

At A.R.C.A. we do not give our pups away free, we charge 60 /70euros, for this the pups will be microchipped, fully vaccinated & protected at an early stage against fatal deceases which is vital, & we make sure they are going to a good home, when they are old enough their owners are notified to bring the dog back to be spayed. All bitches which are adopted are not allowed to leave until they are spayed. A.R.C.A. spend lot of time & money trying to control the population of unwanted dogs here in Spain, but there are still irresponsible owners out there who have not had their bitches spayed & so producing more dogs, YOU ARE DOING JUST THE OPPOSITE to what A.R.C.A. are trying to achieve. As from January 1st 2012 pets will no longer require the blood test if entering the UK from EU and non EU listed countries.
Just a microchip and a rabies vaccination (in that order).
The wait is just 21 days from the date of the rabies vaccination.

Therefore any pets in for testing from now on will not need it and they can all enter in January!

YOUR BASIC GUIDE TO THE EUROPEAN HEALTH INSURANCE CARD (EHIC)

There has been a lot of discussion recently about healthcare rights and some confusion about the European Health Insurance Card (EHIC), the little blue cards that used to be known as E111 forms. Here is a brief guide to EHIC entitlements which should answer some of your questions. Of course, if you still have doubts about EHIC use, you can visit www.nhs.co.uk, ukinspain.fco.gov.uk or contact your local Pension, Benefit and Healthcare Team based at the British Consulates in Alicante and Malaga.

EHIC

	Who can get an EHIC?	What does the EHIC cover?	Where can you use the EHIC?	Where can you get the EHIC from?
Resident in UK	Everyone.	All necessary treatment. This means any treatment which allows you to continue with your temporary stay in comfort.	State run hospitals, health centres and local GPs in any EEA country outside of UK e.g. Spain.	· online: UK National Health Service www.ehic.org.uk • by phone: 0845 606 2030 or +44 191 203 5555 (if outside the UK) • by post: EHIC Applications, PO Box 1115, Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, NE99 1SW
Resident in Spain (1)	People paying social security contributions in Spain or in receipt of a Spanish benefit and their dependants.	All necessary treatment. All necessary treatment. This means any treatment which allows you to continue with your temporary stay in comfort.	State run hospitals, health centres and local GPs in any EEA country outside of Spain e.g. UK. You will need to present your UK issued EHIC to access NHS services.	Before 01/05/10, your local Social Security Office in Spain. After 01/05/10, the UK Department of Health. You and your dependant should receive an application form in the post.

A few other things to remember about EHICs:
-       Residency in this instance refers to your centre of interest. This can be defined by where you spend most of your time, where you work or where you have your main ties.
-       EHICs offer access to treatment on the same basis that health care is normally provided to nationals of that State.
-       Most EHICs issued by the UK are sent to UK residents, and some of the letters that usually accompany a UK resident’s EHIC have been sent to UK citizens living abroad. The letters have now been adapted, and all cards issued in the future to those living abroad should be catered towards an international audience.
-       If you are not eligible for a European Health Insurance Card, it is advisable to take out private health insurance when travelling abroad.

English-Speaking Group

The iESG is a bunch of friendly people of a variety of nationalities and ages who speak English and enjoy each other’s company. The iESG isn’t a Brit-ex-pats’-club; members have included American, Catalan, Dutch, English, German, Norwegian & Swiss.

The group provides a social networking facility for English-speaking people living in the vicinity of L'Ametlla de Mar; it was started over three years ago as the ‘English-Speaking Network‘. The name was changed to avoid the impression that we are solely a computer-based network; we’re not.

Our social activities enable people to meet and, when possible, encourage good-will between the local community and newcomers to the area (we have members who live in El Perelló, L’Ampolla and further).

Our various activities are based on members’ wishes. Further suggestions are always welcome, but may require volunteers to organise them!

Currently the group meets at 6.30 pm on the second Thursday of each month (except for August) at: -

Edificio Bahia Blanca,           C/Paisos Catalans, 74,     L’Ametlla de Mar.

The meetings are informal (without minutes and stuff). The prime object of the get-together is to produce or amend our programme of events and chat about any events which may affect our community.

Regular services and special events at St Christopher’s English speaking church which covers an area of coast from Castellon to Ametlia del Mar, south of Tarragona.
Weekly services are held every Sunday at 10am in Vinaros at the church centre known as Portico, in Plaza Primero de Mayo 5. In Alcossebre Sunday services are at 12am in the Catholic Church of San Cristabal .
The newest and rapidly growing congregation north of the Ebro Delta meets on the first and third Sundays of each month at 12.30pm in the Catholic church at Ampolla, with some special additional services for events such as Remembrance Sunday on 13th November.
Each of the three locations also has a Drop-in Centre – in Alcossebre “El Camino” near the seafront, behind Valentin’s Restaurant is open from11am till 2pm on Monday, Tuesday and Friday with a chance to meet new friends and pick up a book from our second-hand collection or something to wear from our quality used clothing store.
In Vinaros, Portico is open to welcome you on Thursdays between 11am and 1pm.
In Ampolla the latest drop-in centre is due to open during November and will offer a warm welcome to all visitors and local residents.
The church also offers pastoral help – the Parish Priest, Rev Paul Needle is always on call on 662 482 944 and can respond quickly to needs for funerals or hospital visits. Baptisms and Marriage Blessings can also be arranged.
Special Christmas services are being planned and details will be available shortly.

I'm a male dog, about 2 to 3 years young. The people were not discouraged when they saw I have only three legs. Everything under my knee is gone. I can walk normal, even run. Sitting, standing, all no problem. It's just that I move a little different than others.
I'm a young and playfull dog. Luckely the people figured out that I'd rather be with a playmate than on my own. I love to run, love to give attention to people.
My fur is short, colored in white and black, and I have a long tail and long ears. From a distance you could say I look like a Danish Dog, but then a little shorter.
